Protest walk in defense of the Castelli Romani lakes
Castel Gandolfo Rome, Italy - February 4, 2024: More than 600 participants in the walk in defense of the Castelli Romani lakes. Action plan in defense of the Castelli Romani lakes presented. Archaeologists, biologists, botanists, and geologists have contributed to raising awareness of the lakes' environmental emergencies in their various aspects. From the lowering of lake levels to the degradation of the millstone village to the loss of biodiversity. The walk was organized by 30 volunteers who took care of the promotion and logistics of the event. During the walk, findings were communicated that, studies conducted since 1996, link the lowering of lakes with groundwater over-exploitation and land consumption. This was the objective of the initiative that took place today, under the leadership of Roberto Salustri, of EcoIstituto RESEDA onlus, who accompanied those present on a short but eloquent stretch from the moletto, where the old pylons show inexorably how far the level of Lake Albano has dropped - we are talking about more than six and a half meters.
